Haze Oyama

Intro

"Haze" is two syllables: "HA-zuh," from the German word for rabbit. "Oyama," the Japanese surname meaning "big mountain."

It's not his Viera "forest name," but the "city name" he took upon leaving home and becoming an adventurer. On the voyage to Eorzea a Hingashi man and a Roegadyn sailor helped him come up with the name. He learned later the sailor was merely calling him “rabbit” the whole time, but decided to keep it.

He was, after all, a bunny-boy from the foothills of the mountains.

Originally Haze came to Eorzea and Gridania to join the Archer's guild, to become a better hunter. Then the Botanist's guild, to deepen his skills in gathering from the forest. Once exposed to the cities of Eorzea and the life of an adventurer, he wasn't eager to return to the homeland.

Haze picked up an interest in fashion, which lead to learning tailoring. It wasn't enough to work with textiles, so he learned leatherwork. Then every form of smithing. And cooking and alchemy- which he does not mix up, it's totally safe to let him cook!
